Although the cabin isn't terribly roomy, it is trimmed in high-quality materials that will make owners of other luxury compacts jealous. It's also a little disappointing but not deal-breaking that Ford equips the 2023 Explorer with the previous-generation Sync 3 infotainment system. It also added plenty of enhancements to give it the handling and braking power needed in a high-performance vehicle. Trunk capacity is sometimes sacrificed for additional passengers space, and the rear-most seating is generally cramped and mostly suited to small children.
